Samba Dialimpa Badji writes blog for Africa Check

PhD candidate Samba published a blog for Africa Check on February 27th.

In light of the upcoming elections in Senegal, Samba discusses the work of investigators who go under the monicker Forbidden Stories. These investigators layed bare how ex-employees of Cambridge Analytica were involved in digital influence campaigns to manipulate elections in Kenya, Nigeria, and Senegal. Their creation of fake profiles shows, as Samba argues, the complexity of the information disorder today. Moreover, the development of technology, such as Artifical Intelligence, and the lack of digital platforms in taking responsibility to tackle disinformation poses additional challenges to society in the time to come.
